Countdown to AUG 2015: Creators' Crossover

Monday, August 31st @ 9:00pm

:iconclub-tutu: 2015 August Contest
Creators' Crossover

August marks the 13th anniversary of the start of Princess Tutu airing in Japan. To help celebrate the anniversary, we would like to turn the spotlight behind the scenes onto some of the important creators involved in the series. The first would be on the original creator, Ikuko Itoh. The second and third would be chief director Junichi Sato and series director Shougo Kawamato. All three have been in the industry for many years and have taken part at various levels and positions for many series, including Revolutionary Girl Utena, Magic Users' Club, Sailor Moon and Vision of Escaflowne, to name a few well known series.

The challenge this month to pay homage to these creators by drawing upon their additional work. You are to crossover or mashup the characters and world of Princess Tutu with the characters and worlds of the creators' other series. How would Utena react to the story telling demands of Droesselmeyer? How would Fakir fare in Escaflowne? How much would Ahiru have in common with Sae Sawanaguchi? Or how would they react to the world of Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance?

To help you familiarize yourself with the creators' additional works, check out the filmography listed below.

I hope to have time to do something for this month's contest. But, I have an older piece that's been posted elsewhere (never on dA) that would fit as well. Would it be permissible to enter it, or (as I've assumed all along) must all entries be new, as part of the challenge to finish them within the allotted time? Just checking....

We prefer pieces that are created for the prompt, or around the time of the prompt. It's part of the whole challenge aspect of our contests. So it's a no on pre-existing art. But feel free to submit it to the main gallery.

That's what I thought, but I didn't remember seeing a rule to that effect. Thanks for clarifying that!

Yeah, it's rarely posted in the specific contests, but it's in the general contest rules in the About Us page.

Don`t you think about making Princess Tutu OC contest? Agiotage would be enormous =)

It has crossed my mind personally, but we tend to try to keep things in line with the overall theme of the club, which is focused on the canon characters. We've allowed a few instances for OCs, like the families contest we held a while back. Having an OC focused contest is an option, but something the admins would have to agree on. If there were demand for it, maybe.
