:iconclub-tutu: January 2015 Contest
Role Reversal

We all know how the series of Princess Tutu plays out: a kind duck is transformed into a girl in order to save the heartless prince by restoring his heart, and in the process she has to deal with the manipulations of a dead man, a friend who is an enemy, and an enemy who becomes a friend. The story plays out the way it does because of the role each person plays in his and her own ways. The story would not have turned out like it did any other way.

But what if the roles were changed a little? What if Ahiru was more like Rue in personality, or Mytho more like Autor? What if Ahiru was the Raven's daughter and Rue was the duck turned girl turned Princess Tutu? How well would the girls look in the guys clothing and vice versa?

The challenge this time is to do some role reversing. It can be as simple as changing looks amongst characters, or as drastic as changing personalities or roles. Show us what you think would happen in pictures or illustrations.

Deadline: Jan. 30, 11 p.m. PST

Thank you

I hope to have time to do something for this month's contest. But, I have an older piece that's been posted elsewhere (never on dA) that would fit as well. Would it be permissible to enter it, or (as I've assumed all along) must all entries be new, as part of the challenge to finish them within the allotted time? Just checking....

We prefer pieces that are created for the prompt, or around the time of the prompt. It's part of the whole challenge aspect of our contests. So it's a no on pre-existing art. But feel free to submit it to the main gallery.

That's what I thought, but I didn't remember seeing a rule to that effect. Thanks for clarifying that!

Yeah, it's rarely posted in the specific contests, but it's in the general contest rules in the About Us page.

Don`t you think about making Princess Tutu OC contest? Agiotage would be enormous =)
Asatira Featured By Owner Jan 7, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
It has crossed my mind personally, but we tend to try to keep things in line with the overall theme of the club, which is focused on the canon characters. We've allowed a few instances for OCs, like the families contest we held a while back. Having an OC focused contest is an option, but something the admins would have to agree on. If there were demand for it, maybe.

Is there going to be a December contest?
Asatira Featured By Owner Dec 15, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
No, sorry. We tend to take a break during December, so no contests.
