Darkness is Banished
Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen who wanted a child more than any treasure in the world. But when a prince was at last born to the aging couple, they learned that his fate would be to protect all weak things even at the cost of his life.
Mime, the old king of the land, stared into the face of his dearest friend, feeling in that moment the full burden of a heavy heart. They had been through much together. Many wars. He didn't know what he was looking for, yet he was still searching for it. Years he had been doing this, from some vague memory he can't even remember. Was it his mother being at the circus with him? No, not that. Seeing someone there? Maybe. Whatever it was made him wander in the cold dark nights walking slowly searching for something in vain.
He headed to the back of the circus, and his heart plummeted as he realized, tonight was no different from those other nights where he found nothing. He clenched his Clipboard and pencil, the wind ruffled his paper and hair. Go on, a voice in his mind told him. No point giving up now, and with those thoughts he ventured on.
